Big Jay’s Earthworks runs every project the same way: Jay walks the site himself, scopes the work in person, and gives you a written estimate before any equipment moves.

We run a modern fleet: excavators, dozers, high-horsepower forestry mulchers, track loaders, and tandem dump trucks, sized to the job. That means less ground disturbance, faster cleanup, and the capacity to handle multi-acre commercial sites as well as tight residential lots.

Our Three-Step Process

Site walk and scope. You call, we schedule. Jay visits the property, looks at access, drainage, soil, and any obstacles, and listens to what you actually want done.
Written estimate, fixed scope. You get a clear price tied to a defined scope, usually delivered the same day as the site walk. We do not leave you waiting.
Crew on the ground. Once you say go, we mobilize. Residential projects typically finish in days. Commercial scopes get a dedicated crew and a scheduled mobilization window.

What We Do

We handle the full earthworks lifecycle for residential, commercial, agricultural, and government property in Central and Southwest Virginia.

Forestry mulching — Clear overgrown land, brush, and small trees in a single pass. No burning, no hauling.
Land clearing — Lot clearing, tree removal, stump grinding, debris hauling for any property size.
Site preparation — Grade, compact, and rough-in for new construction, additions, driveways, and outbuildings.
Excavation and grading — Foundations, basements, drainage, ditching, and finish grading.
Pond construction — New farm, fishing, wildlife, and retention ponds plus restoration of existing ponds.
Snow removal — Commercial plowing, lot clearing, and ice management for businesses, HOAs, and property managers.
Gravel and access roads — Driveways, logging roads, ag access, and base prep for paved surfaces.
